An immersive retelling of the first Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras in 1978, combining new video interviews and archival footage with a geospatial 3D rendering of the route of the march. The piece allows audiences to traverse the space as they absorb the story.
This was a project I led from concept to publish, responsible for research, design, writing, art direction of videos, 3D modeling and video editing.
I created the 3D rendering of Sydney using open source architectural and terrain data, and then stylised it in Cinema4D to more closely reflect the dark and chaotic context of the night. I constructed the route through a forensic deep-dive of archival photography and footage, historical satellite imagery, and direct accounts from witnesses who were present in 1978.
A retelling of a little-known terrorist incident in the suburbs of Perth. I reconstructed two Chinese restaurants from scratch in Blender using aerial photography from the 1980s, descriptions from interviews, old photos and floorplans.
Pictures of the aftermath shared by the family are paired with 3D imagery as the user traverses the locations on scroll.
In collaboration with a web developer and a journalist, we constructed a 3D globe with three.js and Blender.
I designed and built the 3D model of Antarctica, and led the UI/UX design and art direction for the piece.
